Alberta: The Rockies, Banff and Lake Louise provide ample scenic sites , while the oil fields provide the economic growth.

Our Internet Links attempt to provide you with links to area highlights near Banff that is surrounded by mountains, notably Mount Rundle, Sulphur Mountain, Mount Norquay, and Cascade Mountain, and is situated above Bow Falls near the junction of the Bow and Spray Rivers, or Edmonton that is a staging point for large-scale oil sands projects occurring in northern Alberta and large-scale diamond mining operations in the Northwest Territories, or Calgary where over 3.1 million people now visit the city annually for its many festivals and attractions, especially the Calgary Stampede, or Lethbridge where the nearby Canadian Rockies contribute to the city's cool summers, mild winters, and windy climate. Lethbridge lies southeast of Calgary on the Oldman River, or Fort McMurray where in 1967, the Great Canadian Oil Sands (now Suncor) plant opened and Fort McMurray's growth took off afterwards, or Medicine Hat that has been known for its large natural gas fields. Because of these reserves, the city is known as The Gas City, or Jasper that is 180 mi north of Banff, Alberta, with the Icefields Parkway connecting the Jasper townsite to Lake Louise in Banff National Park.
