The Pinellas Trail, Dunedin - Downtown, Clearwater Beach, Phillipe Park, Tarpon Springs, Caladesi & Honeymoon Islands.

John's Comments Tampa, St. Petersburgh & Clearwater are major metropolitan areas, yet both Dunedin & Safety Harbor give a small town atmosphere. Clearwater Beach is a cut above most Florida beaches and Caladesi & Honeymoon Islands bring you closer to nature. After 20 years of visiting this has become our favorite winter (snowbird) stop in Florida. There is also that added incentive to return to an area where Major League Baseball has many of its` Spring Training facilities. Summer here, is a bit slower, yet activities are plentiful and rates are less than winter months.

Come along and and see why we chose this area as our winter home, for many, many years. First and foremost, it is warmer. There are also many other reasons including, some of the best beaches in North America, baseball spring training in March, within easy driving of Orlando, Fort Myers, Naples, within 300 miles to Key West, Miami, St. Augustine, Daytona, and even Panama City, FL. Although we like the night life, the pace here is just a bit quieter.

1. Tarpon Springs: Want to go fishing. Here is one of many area locations where you can rent your spot, or you may just want to visit the
sponge capital of North America. Join the many tourists and sample the greek restaurants. If you would like to see Florida as it once was go to the Brooker Creek Preserve Superb.
2. Dunedin: My favorite small town in America. Have created an individual site just to promote it. Another spot here however deserves special recognition, Honeymoon & Caladesi Islands may provide you a chance to see the Ospreys.
3. Safety Harbor: Another great small town, home to the famous spa`s and the superb Phillipe State Park. Several good restaurants do help to have visitors return to the area. Check out our Clearwater East-West Trail for some highlights also.
4. Clearwater: Known as the home of Scientology, yet developing into a major city. Downtown Park & Library enhance this forward looking city that is spring training home for the Phillies. Pinnelas Bike Trail goes from the north to south and it was our home for many years.
5. Clearwater Beach: Ah, the sun & the sand and many fine hotels in the area. One should not forget many of our favorite restaurants that are right on the beach. Beachwalk has been recently built and compares very favourably to that in Fort Lauderdale, but it is the beach that is the prime subject. Close the the beach and even sometimes on the beach you are able partake in some of the activities, like cruises to see the dolphins, the Pirate boat, skidoos, etc. Remind yourself, if you are fortunate to visit, try to attend the sunset celebration. Close by, and with its own beach on the Gulf of Mexico is another fine State Park called Sand Key Park

Now for my perspective! "Our home away from home". Oh, do try the Palm Pavilion for lunch, we love their wraps.
