Our Internet Links attempt to provide you with links to area highlights in Providence which is the capital and most populous city of Rhode Island and was one of the first cities established in the United States, or Newport which is known as a New England summer resort and for the famous Newport Mansions, or Narragansett which occupies a narrow strip of land running along the eastern bank of the Pettaquamscutt River to the shore of Narragansett Bay, or Warwick which was decimated during King Philip's War (1675–76) and was the site of the first shot fired during the American Revolution, in June 1772, against the British schooner Gaspée.
