Accommodation - Panama City, Panama

We found this place to be more than satisfactory for us, especially as we were there for a long term visit. It was quite close to all that the city has to offer, yet it was a great spot just to enjoy the warmth and sunshine with more than basic requirement. Some interesting spots to visit close by were; two large shopping malls, grocery store's (all major chains), many casino`s, business district, many restaurants and of course the Panamanians themselves. It became quite easy to take the taxi rather than walking. In most instances a taxi ride may be two dollars and sometimes up to double that for 4-8 miles. Quite inexpensive, but one should know a bit of Spanish or be able to provide directions as all drivers are not conversant in English. Take along a map of the city with you. While there were many great restaurants where one could have a great meal for under $50 for two with a bottle of super Argentina wine, there were also many smaller restaurants where you could have inexpensive dining with a beer for much less than $10. We tried both many times but also had many barbeques and meals at our location.

John`s Recollections - 2009

Of all places we have stayed this has to be considered one of our favorites. Not because it was more luxurious, but rather the people, who became friends in a strange country. The location was close enough to walk to all locations in the city but taking a taxi was more than great as the cost was so reasonable. Did I mention that shopping for groceries within 4-5 blocks was an easy taxi ride home for a dollar. Another treat was likely one of the city`s finest bakeries across the street. Because of the reasonable cost we were able to take trips away from the city to more luxurious accommodations in the Santa Clara & Gamboa areas.
