The number of churches in the area shows one the importance that religion played during that time. Also museums and the Presidential Grounds indicate the importance that the Panama Government believes that this area will be part of a Panamanian revival. The buildings have been beautifully restored and are now completely functional as to their intended purposes. Fees are quite nominal and if you have the time a visit to each of them is quite worthwhile.

There are many occasions where holidays are centered on religious occasions, and the churches are very prominently displayed compared to much of the surrounding areas.
