As one walks around the area, it is quite noticable in the amount of restoration that is occurring. Many of the buildings that were at one stage slums have now been restored to their past glory. Modern business entities are there, restaurants, tourist shops, hotels. Together with the restoration of Government buildings that include many museums and even the Presidential grounds it indicates a strong future for the area.

John`s Recollections - 2009

This first trp to Panama showed great promise for Casco Viejo restoration, hopefully the next will prove it true. It, at the start of our walk, appeared very much as a third world environment, but as time went on, seeing many of the restored buildings, showed a great promise for the future.
