Feeling like you are in a dream like stance? Take for instance, a glass countertop and look to see the smoothness and reflections that it displays. Well the Salton Sea displayed those same qualities the day we were there, only here there seemed to be no apparent end as the distant shoreline and mountains had a mirage type feeling that they were part of the sea. So still and smooth, where one had no other disturbance other than being immerged by the surrounding Sea itself. Now, getting here from San Diego means crossing the Sierra Madres, but that is just excellent scenery, with no problems on the way. Also as one gets closer to Laughlin, NV mountains and the Colorado River take precedence, but again they did not make me forget that Sea of Salton. Memories are made to last a lifetime. This is why Travel to me is so important, as one has the opportunity to experience new horizons. You actually do retain those thoughts that should never be erased. Trip Report Travelling west on Interstate 08 from San Diego you will quickly start the climb up over the Sierra Mountain range. Although they are not similar in height to this mountain range in Mexico near Mazatlan, they do however provide some excellent scenic scenic shots looking back towards San Diego or Northern Mexico. Take Hwy 86 north at El Centro, past the Salton Sea to Interstate 10 and then head East to Hwy 95 North to the interchange at Hwy 163 that goes east to Laughlin, NV. From mountains, to desert, to seas and then back to rolling hills beside the Colorado river, this drive has a multitude of scenic vistas. |
