Casa Grande Ruins National Monument - Arizona
Probably 14th century and contemporary with other preserved ruins in Arizona such as the Tonto and Montezuma Castle Monuments
| John's Comments | From a distance you may not be that impressed but as you get closer the actual height of the main building is quite impressive, it being almost 4 stories tall. The ruins are still being developed and there are several near mounds that have yet to be unearthed. Get close up and be impressed both by the size and the architecture. Cut doorways with smooth 2-3 foot walls and mammouth wooden beams. One would not believe that such a civilization would have existed that long ago in North America. |
