Arizona, to my mind, has the grandest of all, the Grand Canyon National Park . The views from the south rim are terrific, but while there check out both the North Rim as well as the West Rim where you are able walk out and view thousands of feet directly below.

There are also many other sites to visit, ranging from the Petrified Forest / Painted Desert , to Sedona which is just a wonderful place to visit and spend the night, or nearby Montezuma Castle that will awe you with a historic past, or check out Tombstone where Wyatt Earp once provided security for the State, or the ruins at Casa Grande , or if you are looking for true nature then a visit to the Saguaro National Park will provide the look at cactii of all kinds, or visit man's attempt to simulate living outside of earth`s confines at BioSphere II , or visit a most interesting historic village at Walnut Canyon , or stop at Winslow, where Standin` on the Corner became a hit song, or see the massive decrease in water level at Lake Powell.

In our drives through-out the state, we sometimes took the roads less travelled and our trip from Apache Junction to Lake Roosevelt provided the opportunity to view some scenery that most would not see. The drive from Lake Powell to the North rim of the Grand Canyon has many areas along the way that encourage one to stop and explore further.
Other drives were equally scenic, like between between the Grand Canyon North Rim & Flagstaff , or Petrified Forest to Tucson , however the drive between Flagstaff & the Petrified Forest was rather flat with little scenery except the stopover at Walnut Canyon.
