From prehistoric peoples to early explorers, from the Civilian Conservation Corps to Historic Route 66, the park has many stories to tell.


Archaeological sites within the park show not only the bases of dwellings of previous Indian tribes, but also have paintings on close-by rocks that show part of their culture. Most of these paintings are quite apparent and are in rather good shape.
