Crazy Horse Memorial
South Dakota

Trip Planning logo

Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest sculpture, now in progress, is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota on US Highway 16/385 just 17 miles southwest of Mount Rushmore.

John's Comments This sculpture is a work of art. The size is beyond belief and when (if) completed, it will be remembered forever. Truly fitting for Crazy Horse (the individual) and the North American Indian tribes. A work in Progress, but certainly mammouth in size. Very impressive structure that allow easy access to get closer to the Memorial and at the same time provides buildings that house museum artifacts. The museum gives an excellent history on the construction and of the early life of Crazy Horse.
John`s Recollections - 2009

Very interesting memorial that has now the appearance of Crazy Horse, at least the facial portion. Much more work to be done, but while there it was a work in progress and with time it can become one of America`s great sculptures.
