John`s Recollections - 2009 We took Hwy 261 to Mexican Hat from the Natural Bridges and with a quite exilarating, but rather intimidating drop off Cedar Mesa to the valley 1200 feet below. This part is known as the Moqui Dugway and those should be aware the highway deteriorates to a gravel road with steep inclines and 180 degree turns. Terrific scenery along the drive includes the Garden of the Gods and Monument Valley (Navejo Tribal mountains). A favorite drive, where the next time will entail many more stops on the descent to capture the moments.
